Burrito, Schmurrito!

Where's the beef?

Two articles on pre-chewed beef slapped in a flat doughy mass of flour requires a rebuttal on my part. I believe burritos rate up there with fast food items such as sliders — they taste better when you are in the mood for some comfort food as you curl up in your sloppy pants OR when you are simply at the point where you have “sampled a few too many beverages of choice" and need that special something that may-or-may-not tame your tummy.

In my household, we really don’t drink and my sloppy pants are worn out from previous escapades with comfort foods readily available in our fridge or down Route 59. To be honest, I don’t even want to think about another burrito going down my gullet. PLEASE, give me something different.

I think it is time to bring out the big guns and celebrate a good 'ol steak. When I go out to eat in this tough economy, I don’t waste time or money on the overpriced and salty fast food. I want carnage on a plate with the perfect balance of seasonings and grill marks — not kick marks from the jockey. I want to cut into that hunk of flesh and know that I am exerting my carnivorous privileges while savoring every barbaric bite that is accented with the perfect amount of freshly ground horseradish.

I want to encapsulate the experience with a perfect baked potato topped off with some salt and pepper while being buried with a pat of butter and a ton of sinful sour cream. Knock it totally out of the park by adding a side of freshly made creamed spinach and there is just no looking back at the regurgitated pleasures offered at fast food restaurants that are readily available.

In our ever-changing restaurant scene, I want to hear where the trophy steaks are offered out here. (Insert Tim Allen grunts here.) Where do you go to get your beef on, Plainfield?
