Blog: Look What I Found in My Flowering Bushes Last Night...

Is it a hummingbird? Is it a bee? What IS that in my bushes?

This plump visitor can easily be mistaken for a small striped hummingbird. But the fact that it flys at night is a dead give away that we are being visited by a hummingbird moth. At less than two inches in length and with wings the speed of lightning, I was lucky to catch a few decent shots.

Yes a hummingbird moth. They are quite docile. We get them every year in the azelea flowers. Theyll sit right on your hand. A really neat creature...
