Nevin's Brewing to Expand Beer Offerings Beyond Plainfield

Four signature brews will be offered at other area restaurants, a first step toward selling Nevin's products in stores.

Two years after it fired up its beer kettles for the first time, Nevin’s Brewing Company in Plainfield will begins offering four of its signature beers at a handful of local restaurants and pubs on July 1, the company announced Wednesday.

NBC brews will be offered at other locations in the Nevin's family of restaurants:  The Kerry Piper in Willowbrook; Tommy Nevin’s Pubs in Frankfort, Evanston and Naperville; Pete Miller’s in Wheeling; and  Muldoon’s in Wheaton.

According to NBC, it was a two-year process to hone flavor profiles and to be approved by the State of Illinois to pour in other establishments.

“I am very pleased with all four beers that are headed out the door,” said brewmaster Marc Wilson. “It’s a little like raising kids and sending them off into the world.”

The next goal for Nevin’s Brewing Company is to bring the beers to retail market in the stores around Illinois as well as offer the beers to more restaurants and pubs.

Brews that will be sold outside the Plainfield location are "YOLO!," a Czech-inspired pilsner; Red Lager, made from 100 percent imported Vienna malt and American varietals of traditional German hops; Contentious, a Belgian IPA that was Nevin's first and most popular brew; and Southside Stout, a roasty stout "with a heavy hand of chocolate malt."

Scott Anderson, a spokesman for the chain, called the move the "first significant step to having its brand of beers in all stores." NBC brews could be sold in additional locations in six to eight months, he said.

Nevin's Brewing opened at 12337 S. Route 59 in December 2012 and began brewing in February 2013.
