When and how did your business get started?

As a mother of special needs children and a former teacher, Jennifer J. Wood, Owner and Principal Partner of Wood Law, P.C., noticed a void in the areas of family law and school law related to special needs concerns. Her experience in divorce, custody, child support, and education make her an informed attorney ready to tackle these legal issues on behalf of families who face special needs challenges.

What is your business best known for?

Jennifer Wood is well-known as a special needs spokesperson, a local and national advocate, a freelance writer for Chicago Parent Magazine and Chicago Special Parent Magazine, and as an author of various, published legal articles including: "Support Awards for Adult Disabled Children in Illinois" and "Post-Majority Support for Education in Illinois".

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?

Jennifer Wood opened Wood Law, P.C. because there are few attorneys who understand the very meaningful overlap involving special needs and legal concerns, such as how autism impacts a divorce proceeding or how IEPs affect larger school issues.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

Jennifer Wood was featured on the Today Show online and in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin in 2013.

Does your business offer a special deals card or program?

Retainer not required for most special needs matters. Fee for service available for special education concerns. Competitive rates for divorce and other family law matters.
