When and how did your business get started?

Hi. I’m Colleen. Owner and designer behind Glitter Ink. I’m a paper crafter who decided to turn my passion and hobby into a tiny little business.

I love all things paper, especially when it sparkles and glitters…oh and I must not forget to say that I also love all things PINK! My overall designs tend to represent sweet, cute, clean, and simple...and sometimes funny! I love creating unique cards on a daily basis, especially when I can add personalized details.

Glitter Ink started out in 2003 in the second bedroom of our first condo. Back then, it was even called “Colleen’s 2nd Bedroom." As my hobby and passion continued to grow, so did our family and our home. I love having this wonderful creative outlet that allows me to stay home and be with my son and daughter. The name “Glitter Ink” was born in about 2007 as I decided to expand my horizons and start selling my creations.

What is your business best known for?

I am constantly inspired and creating new cards and paper goodness every day!
My top sellers are long distance/missing you cards featuring states and cities. My milestone glitter birthday cards are also very popular.

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?

I operate out of my own home in Plainfield and conduct most of my business via the internet such as Facebook and Etsy.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

I love to create custom cards for anyone and everyone! I love a challenge and love to create fun and unique cards that are very specific. I have created cards for "spider and bug lovers", fans of certain characters (such as Star Wars, superheroes).

I would also love the opportunity to create fun paper goods for your next party or event (coordinating invitations, thank you cards, cupcake toppers, etc.)
