Too close for comfort: Oswego East had won four straight Southwest Prairie Conference games, all of them by five points or less. Of its five league losses, four of them have been by six points or less.

Quotable I: “We told these guys two weeks ago, we’re going game by game,” Plainfield Central coach Steve Lamberti said. “There’s no pressure now. We’re not saying we have to win the conference title. We want to stack wins together, get in a good position for the sectional seeding, play our best basketball every time out and, hopefully, we’re as good as we can be when March rolls around.”

Quotable II: “The lack of atmosphere in the gym is no excuse for not bringing our best game,” Oswego East coach Jason Buckley said. “The silver lining is we weren’t very good tonight, but we had a chance at the end. We’ll get better. It’s a frustrating loss.”

Records: Plainfield Central is 16-6 overall, 6-4 in the SPC. Oswego East dropped to 13-7, 6-5.

A look ahead: Plainfield Central’s third straight road game is Wednesday at Plainfield East. Oswego East hits the road to face SPC leader Plainfield South (14-6, 7-2) Friday in Plainfield.
