ATI Foundation 5K Run, Walk & Roll

Hall-of-Fame hockey player Denis Savard and one of Chicago’s top cover bands, Maggie Speaks, will headline the 9th annual ATI Foundation’s 5K Run, Walk & Roll, to be held June 12 at the ATI Physical Therapy Clinic, 3082 Caton Farm Road in Joliet. The annual event raises funds to help improve the lives of children with physical impairments. Registration is $25 and is available online at www.ATI5K.com. Children 12 and under are free.

The full morning of family friendly activities begins with an 8 a.m. registration. At 9 a.m., Chicago Blackhawks anthem singer Jim Cornelison will kick-off the festivities by singing the National Anthem and Savard, a Chicago Blackhawks legend, will be the official starter for the 5K.  From 9:30 a.m. to noon, registrants will be entertained with live music from Maggie Speaks.  Other highlights include a bouncy house, face painter, games, a performance by the Revolution Dance Studio, raffles, door prizes and giveaways.

“We are very excited to host our 9th Annual 5K event in Joliet to raise funds for our many special beneficiaries,” said Terry Williams, Director, ATI Foundation. “Every year we receive tremendous support from the community for this event as we work hard to raise funds for children with physical impairments, like one of our most recent beneficiaries from the Lockport area, Leah, who suffers from Spina Bifida.”

Families, friends and neighbors are encouraged to participate in the 5K by running, jogging, walking, rollerblading, or pushing a stroller or wheelchair through the local neighborhood course. Dogs are welcome and treats will be provided.

The $25 registration fee includes food, one complimentary drink ticket, an ATI Foundation 5K backpack, towel, water bottle and Dri-fit event shirt. Raffle prizes include an autographed Chicago Cubs jersey and restaurant package with a $50 gift card from Finnegan’s Irish Pub in Plainfield and The Department in Joliet.

All proceeds go toward the mission of the ATI Foundation, assisting children with medical resources and funding to enhance and sustain a better quality of life. Recent beneficiaries include 4-year-old Nathan who has Left Heart Syndrome; Vanessa from Plainfield, who has the genetic condition Trisomy 18; and Maya, a 7-year-old with Rett Syndrome.

In Nathan’s situation, the Foundation helped provide financial assistance toward medical expenses for three life-saving surgeries.  On May 1st, Nathan received a fully-functioning heart via a transplant allowing him to begin a new life as a vibrant little boy.
