The Troy Middle School team knocked off two other teams in the state tourney over the weekend to claim Class 3A victory.

Troy School District 30-C will hold an assembly today to celebrate the Troy Middle School baseball team's first-place state championship win this weekend.

The Troy Trojans, coached by Tom Knapczyk, Mike Tonelli and Jeremy Poch, marched past teams from Mahomet-Seymour, Mount Zion and Greenville to clinch the Class 3A division win.

The tournament was held by the Illinois Elementary School Association in East Peoria. Classes are determined by school enrollment, with Class 3A being the division for schools with the largest student populations.
