They can bump, kick and pass with the best of them.

As the 2014 soccer season gets underway, the Chicago Sun-Times has ranked the top 20 area girls' high school soccer teams — as well as individuals — to watch for this spring, according to High School Cube News.

The Plainfield North High School girls soccer team made the list, coming in at No. 9. The article acknowledges some of the team's top players: "Player of the Year Ashley Handwork graduated though younger sister, midfielder Heather Handwork (Marquette) played for the Olympic-qualifying team in December. Tigers return seven starters from 21-win sectional qualifier, including midfielder Shayna Dheel and junior defender Brooke Polonus."

The top five teams on the list include: Buffalo Grove (No. 1), Waubonsie Valley (No. 2), Naperville North (No. 3), Barrington (No. 4), and Neuqua Valley (No. 5).
