The fest is Friday, Saturday and Sunday in downtown Plainfield.

Presented by Rod Baker Ford, Plainfield Fest 2013 will kick off at 4 p.m. Friday, and residents should expect road closures in downtown Plainfield during the three-day event.

The fest will be located along Lockport, Des Plaines, Illinois and Chicago streets. Click here for a map of the fest grounds. The event is a fundraiser for efforts to revitalize Plainfield's riverfront.

Road closures will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and last until early Monday, July 22. Plainfield police are urging residents to be aware of the following closures:

  • Illinois Street will be completely closed between the library and the alley just south of Lockport Street.
  • Chicago Street between Illinois Street and Fox River Street will be closed. A checkpoint for local residents and handicapped parking will be located at Illinois Street and Chicago Street.
  • Fox River Street between Lockport Street and Ottawa Street will be a checkpoint-controlled access.

Last year in downtown Plainfield

Those who aren't happy about three days of street closures, take heart: organizers say this is the last time Plainfield Fest will be held downtown.

Riverfront Foundation President Rob Epley said the organization is looking for a new venue for next year. Last year, the event drew more than 10,000 visitors.

"Unfortunately, we've just run out of space," Epley said. The new fest location has yet to be determined, he said.
