Scholarship Sends Plainfield Student to Finland As Youth Ambassador

resident Alexandra Lake is one of 12 students in the nation awarded the Finland-U.S. Senate Youth Exchange Scholarship, allowing her to spend eight weeks this summer as a youth ambassador.

Funded by the Finnish government, scholarship winners are carefully selected by a committee from Youth For Understanding USA based on their application and essays.

Alexandra departed to Finland three weeks ago. She is staying with a local host family and will hear welcoming addresses by members of Finnish parliament and representatives of government ministries, as well as visit various museums, landmarks, and corporations.
