New Electronic Recycling Law Has Teeth And Claws
New law in Illinois requires proper disposal of electronic waste, including PCs, VCRs, cell phones, keyboards and monitors. Effective Jan. 1, violators face a $7,000 fine.

Effective Jan. 1, a new state law goes into effect that says electronic waste items, also known as "e-waste," cannot be dumped or included with other household garbage. They must be turned into collection and recycling centers. For a list of what is defined as e-waste, visit this Web site:
