Safe And Effective Bug Protection For Your Home And Family

Natural protection against mosquitoes, fleas and other annoying insects. Use essential oils, bug-repelling plants and bushes, and cheap home remedies.

It is forecasted to be a bad year for bugs, so the experts are warning. Ticks, mosquitoes, fleas and anything else that crawls or flies will be in an abundance, brought on as a result of a warm winter and climate change, really means it is going to be a bad year for people and their pets.

Many people are chemical-sensitive or prefer not to use commercial bug repellents. For those people, I have some information that is useful and practical, not to mention timely, since the bugs are already out and it's only April and has not rained much. Wait until the humidity levels rise along with the temperatures, and then look out.

I read an interesting article on plants and shrubs that repel bugs. It's suggested that these be grown around your home and patio.

There are also essential oils that are effective against bugs, including lavender oil, oil of citron, eucalyptus oil and others. Eucalyptus oil is cheap and available over the counter at Walmart and Meijer. Puritans Pride online has regular sales and a selection of natural remedies and oils to help combat insects without using chemicals.

Many are safe for use on your pet to repel fleas, as well. You will need a few trigger sprayers and distilled or purified water to mix with the oils, shaking well and applying with a spray mist generousely.

I have personally used lavendar and eucalyptus oils to repel bugs and borac acid and cornmeal to control ants. I plan to put a few citron plants in pots near my door to help keep mosquitoes from entering my living space.
