Driving Plainfield: Your Picks for the Most Dangerous Intersections

We asked our readers to tell us what they consider the most dangerous intersections in Plainfield. Here's what they said.

We asked readers on Facebook last week to tell us the worst intersections in Plainfield — and from your reactions, it might have been faster to list the SAFEST intersections in town.

Readers responded with more than 150 comments, picking out nearly 30 intersections they feel are the riskiest.

With their comments, we started the above map that you can help us populate it with your picks.

Intersections given a dishonorable mention by several readers include County Line Road and Route 126, Route 30 and 119th Street and Lockport Street/Route 126 and Meadow Lane.

"No street lights at night make for a very dangerous intersection" at County Line and 126, one reader said. Another added, "I still can't believe there is no stop light there."

Other residents say they dread Caton Farm Road and Route 59.

"It's dangerous when people are going west on Caton Farm and cross 59 and decide to turn left into the BP," one Facebook fan wrote. "Not a good move when you can turn left on 59, then right into BP. A lot of read-end collisions there."

Another reader sounded off on the traffic circle at Drauden and Renwick roads. "It's like entering a raceway," she wrote. "No one yields!"

Still another reader said the recent changes at Renwick and River roads are not for the better.

"They need to go back to a four-way stop or mark it better," the reader wrote.

How to add your own contribution to the map:

You can add locations to this map—and because Plainfield is a bike-friendly community, we'd like to open this up to areas that raise concern about bike safety, too. Simply click the "Add" button in the upper-right corner of the map and enter the location of the problem area and a description of the problem. You can also drag the marker directly onto the map if you are not sure how to describe the intersection.

What other intersections are of concern? Tell us in the comments below.
