Updated at 4:10 p.m.:

A 42,000-pound steel coil fell off a semi-truck on southbound Route 59 near 143rd Street Thursday afternoon, causing traffic headaches.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said crews were awaiting the arrival of a heavy lifter to pick up the coil and get traffic moving again.

One lane of southbound Route 59 was initially closed, but has since reopened.

As of 4 p.m., 143rd Street was closed between Route 59 and Van Dyke Road as crews work to get the coil back on the trailer. Stratton estimated the closure will last an hour.

No one was hurt, Stratton said.
