New 5K Run/Walk to Help Wounded Soldiers

The May 26 event will start at 8 a.m. in Settlers' Park and is being sponsored by Operation Welcome You Home.

Participants and sponsors are being sought for a Plainfield 5K run/race/walk that will benefit the Wounded Warriers Project.

The event will be held May 26 at 8 a.m. at , and is being conducted by Operation Welcome You Home.

The Wounded Warrior Project raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for support the needs of injured service members, help injured service members assist each other and provide programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

Operation Welcome You Home conducts ceremonies to welcome the return of armed service members to their communities following deployments to combat zones such as Iraq or Afghanistan.

Visiting Angels of Plainfield, which is assisting in the planning, publicity, and coordination of the race, provides affordable in-home senior care services in the and surrounding areas.

Wounded Warrior and Operation Welcome You Home are both nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations.

The walk/race costs $25 and online registration is available at https://www.signmeup.com/site/on-line-event-registration/79372 or by visiting www.welcomeyouhome.org and clicking the Wounded Warrior 5K tab.  

Participants who register online by May 5 are guaranteed a commemorative athletic WWP Race T-Shirt.
