'Sippety Hoppity' Adult Easter Party Benefits Park District

The Saturday night event features beer and wine tasting and an Easter egg hunt.

Kids have the Easter Bunny, baskets of candy and egg hunts.

Thanks to a new event in town, adults can get in on the fun this Easter, too.

“Sippety Hoppity Wine & Beer Tasting and Adult Egg Hunt” on Saturday evening at a former supper club in Plainfield will be just that – drinking and searching for eggs.

More than a dozen beers and more than a dozen wines will be offered, and eggs will be filled with candy and prize money.

Appetizers and entertainment by acoustic guitarist and vocalist Dave Bellah from the band Red dB also will be part of the fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Foundation.

Raffle items such as Ravinia tickets, Rachael Ray cookware and a Weber grill will be up for bid, with tickets sold by body part: $20 for your wingspan, $10 for arm’s length and $5 for head size.

“Sippety Hoppity” will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, with the egg hunt at 8 p.m. in the illuminated back yard, weather permitting, at Pinnacle Custom Home Builders’ corporate office, a house and former supper club located at 25151 119th St. at Normantown Road in Plainfield.

“So many places do wine and beer tastings, but we wanted to have something a little out of the box,” said Dan Rachanowski, project chairman and vice president of the Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation. “It’s an idea I dwarfed from other events I’ve seen many moons ago when I was in the Jaycees.”

Proceeds from the foundation’s fundraiser will subsidize the park district’s egg hunt for children April 16 at Van Horn Woods. Any extra funds will go to scholarships awarded to Plainfield residents who can’t afford park district activities.

“It’s a brand new event to offset costs and so kids don’t have all the fun,” Cheryl Crisman, the park district’s recreation director and foundation liaison, said with a laugh.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Tickets are available at T-Birds Liquors, 15420 S. Route 59; the park district Recreation/Administration Center, 23729 W. Ottawa St.; First Midwest Bank, Route 30 and Van Dyke Road; or via www.plainfieldparkdistrict.com.
