It's Plainfield Turkey Drop Time; Job-Hunting Help for Vets

Plus, Sen. Bertino-Tarrant hosts a senior workshop.

It's a busy week in and around Plainfield.

On Saturday, the annual turkey drop will return to the Plainfield Moose Lodge, 16310 S. Lincoln Highway, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop off a frozen bird and stay for a bite to eat at the Moose's free brunch.

You can also donate non-perishable food items to be used in Thanksgiving baskets for local needy families. Monetary donations are also accepted; checks should be payable to Plainfield Moose Lodge with the note "turkey drop." Click for more information.

Monday, the Romeoville Veteran’s Commission is teaming with mayor John Noak and congressman Dan Lipinski to put on a Veteran’s Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Romeoville Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Rd., Romeoville. Click for more details.

Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) is hosting a workshop for senior citizens at 1 p.m. Monday at the Plainfield Township community room, 22525 W. Lockport St. At the event, AT&T will present "Keeping Seniors Connected to Family and Friends," which provides information to the senior community on how they can best use wireless devices and new technology to improve their lives.  Click for more details.
