Midwest Brewers Fest Returns to Plainfield; Library Plans Book Sale

Here's your look ahead at what's happening in Plainfield this week.

Monday through Wednesday


Stop by the Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St., and drop off items for the annual used book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Collection and sorting will take place all day in the large meeting room at the library.
The library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday


Share your feedback on the Plainfield Police Department during a special public meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Plainfield Police Department multipurpose room, 14300 S. Coil Plus Dr. The informational session is part of the department's reaccreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

Tuesday


Cruise Nights, hosted by the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce, will return to downtown Plainfield from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday is the event's annual awards night.

Friday and Saturday


The Friends of the Plainfield Public Library book sale is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24, beginning at 9 a.m. both days.

Thousands of gently used items will be available - books, DVDs, and CDs- all at rock bottom prices.  Don't miss this yearly fundraiser for the Library. Prices are as follows:

     Childrens' books $.25
     Hardcover books $1.00
     Regular paperbacks $.25 each or 5 for a $1.00
     Oversized/non-fiction paperbacks $.50
     AV/video (children and adult) $1.00
     Saturday afternoon special: Library bags filled with paperbacks $3.00

Saturday

Craft beer lovers, take note: Midwest Brewers Fest will return to Plainfield's Riverfront Park; VIP admission is from noon to 6 p.m., and general admission is from 1 to 6 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation. For more information or to buy tickets, visit the Midwest Brewers Fest website or check out the Facebook fan page.

The Plainfield Farmers Market will also take place at the corner of Lockport Street and Route 59 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
