Also this week in Plainfield: The 119th Street railroad crossing will be closed Tuesday through Friday.

Planning your week?

If you're traveling through Plainfield, be sure to map out a route that bypasses the 119th Street railroad crossing; that section of the track will be closed from Tuesday through Friday for repairs by Canadian National.

The closure begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday and will reopen, depending on the weather, at 4 p.m. Friday, according to a village of Plainfield news posting.

On Thursday, head to downtown Plainfield to see the official unveiling of the Lockport Street Pedestrian Bridge. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10 a.m.

The ADA-compliant walkway/bridge was built almost entirely with a $1 million grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

This weekend, the Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K will return to Village Green Park. The annual event will kick off at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29. Read more on the event here, and learn about related road closures here.
