YMCA Hosts Mini Triathlon Saturday; Plainfield Moose Car Show Set for Sunday

Also happening in Plainfield: the weekly farmers market, a moving sale and a gathering to write letters to troops stationed overseas.

A look at the weekend ahead in Plainfield:

Saturday


From 8 a.m. to noon, St. Mary Immaculate invites residents to come out and write letters to military men and women. The event will take place in the gym, 15629 S. Route 59.

The church is also collecting items to be shipped to the troops including Slim Jims, jelly (32 oz. or less; no glass), condiments like mayo and mustard, toilet paper, cereal bars, magazines/books, body wash, foot powder, microwave popcorn, anti-itch and antibiotic cream and greeting cards. The Plainfield Farmers Market will return to the southwest corner of Lockport Street and Route 59 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Also Saturday, the YMCA will host its Mini and Kids Triathlon at the C.W. Avery YMCA, 15120 Wallin Dr. Click for more details.

Sunday


The Plainfield Moose Family Center, 16310 S. Lincoln Highway, Plainfield, will host its sixth annual car show, starting at 8 a.m.
