Plainfield's Central Campus high school can trace its roots back to 1891, but the original building was destroyed in a deadly tornado that came through the area in 1990. It was rebuilt in 1993, an addition was built in 1994 and the Freshman Center was added in 1999. Today, the school houses almost 2,400 students and offers dozens of extracurricular activities and sports.
