The Plainfield Historical Society is located in an old grain elevator office on Route 126. The society was founded inMore 1976, on the Bicentennial. Some exhibits at the museum include a history of downtown Plainfield, a replica of Ft. Beggs, a look at local churches, and photos of WWI and the Civil War. The museum was recently renovated and there are gifts for sale.
Elizabeth Eichelberger Elementary School

Elizabeth Eichelberger Elementary School, which opened in 2008, is one of the newest schools built by PlainfieldMore Community Consolidated School District 202. The red-brick kindergarten-through-5th-grade building houses about 550 students and features a "gator" as its mascot. Principal, Trevor Harris, is particularly proud of the school's interaction with the Plainfield Historical Society, with which it shares a mission to educate children about the town in which they live.
