Hundreds of people lit candles Wednesday night and remembered the three teenagers who lost their lives in Monday's crash on Route 126.

Hundreds of people lit candles and shared their grief on Wednesday night at the Plainfield home of Tyler Montgomery, one of three teenagers killed in a car crash on Route 126 on Monday. There were tears and laughs, stories and memories, as family members and friends recalled Montgomery, his girlfriend Alexis Banuelos of Naperville, and their friend Brian Herrera of Plainfield, all of whom lost their lives in the crash. 'They Had a Beautiful Life:' Vigil Held for Teens Killed in Crash

Friends, friends and community members gathered to remember Alexis Banuelos, Brian Herrera and Tyler Montgomery in Plainfield Wednesday night.

On Monday, three young people were taken much too soon. On Wednesday, hundreds of friends, neighbors and total strangers gathered in the darkness, candles flickering, not to mourn the loss, but to celebrate their lives. Herrera was driving a black Ford coupe when he made a turn in front of a semi-trailer heading east on Route 126 near Oswego. The driver of the truck, which carried 40,000 pounds of sand, wasn’t able to stop in time, and the semi flipped onto its side, pinning the car …

According to Illinois State Police Trooper Jason Shrake, charges are not expected in the crash that killed three teenagers near Oswego on Monday afternoon. Shrake said all evidence points to the driver of the black Ford coupe, 19-year-old Brian Herrera of Plainfield, causing the accident when he turned in front of a semi tractor-trailer heading east on Route 126. The truck tried to avoid the car, but ended up flipping on its side, pinning the car beneath it.  Herrera and his passenger, 19-year-old Tyler Montgomery of Plainfield, were pronounced dead on scene. A second passenger, 18-year-old Alexis Banuelos of Naperville, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the truck, …
