Hearings Set in Plainfield Election Challenges

A Jan. 11 hearing will determine whether three village candidates will stay on the April 9 ballot. A Jan. 15 date was set to hearing objections to the petitions of three library board candidates.

Mayor Mike Collins, challenger Michael Lambert and Plainfield village trustee candidate Mike Guinta will get the chance to defend their right to stay on the April 9 election ballot this Friday. Three separate hearings are scheduled for Jan. 11 to address objections to the candidates’ nominating petitions. Park Board Member Challenging Library Candidates

Peter Hurtado — whose daughter is seeking a spot on the library board — filed objections Thursday against three candidates.

A Plainfield Park District commissioner is questioning the candidacy of three people who are seeking spots on the Plainfield Public Library District Board of Trustees. Peter Hurtado, who was elected to the park board in 2011 and ran unsuccessfully against State Sen. Linda Holmes last November, filed objections to the nominating petitions of David Schmidt, Alice R. Adeszko and Lauren Ledvina. Hurtado’s 19-year-old daughter, Samantha, is among the nine candidates for the four open seats on the board in the April election.
