Man Stole $1,000 in Cosmetics from CVS, Police Say
Police say the suspect was observed stuffing the merchandise into his shirt; he's been charged with retail theft and burglary.
A man observed stuffing $1,000 in cosmetics down his shirt at a local CVS store was arrested Monday by Plainfield police. Antonio Rivera, 34, 4602 S. Fairfield Ave., Chicago, faces burglary and retail theft charges in connection with the incident, which occurred shortly before noon at the 11840 S. Route 59 store. A store clerk watched Rivera stealing the merchandise and then followed him out as he left, Detective Sgt. Kevin McQuaid said. When she saw he was headed to a nearby Kohl’s store, she called the police. Officers apprehended Rivera as he left the department store and were able to recover the stolen CVS merchandise, McQuaid said.
