The suspect persuaded the Plainfield woman, 32, to meet him in the Fairfield Inn lobby by telling her he wanted to repay her money he'd borrowed, Joliet police said.
A former Plainfield resident who allegedly lured a former girlfriend to a Joliet motel on the pretext of paying back money he owed her only to rape her in a public rest room was arrested Saturday night, Joliet police said. Jonathan M. Fox, 25, of 1102 Theresa Arbor Drive in Tampa, Florida, contacted the Plainfield woman by text several times in an effort to persuade her to meet him at the Fairfield Inn, 3239 Norman Ave., not far from the Louis Joliet Mall, Cmdr. Al Roechner said. The 32-year-old woman had a restraining order filed against Fox but agreed to meet him in the motel lobby at 6 p.m., Roechner said. Crest Hill police arrested Bruce Gimpel on Thanksgiving morning and charged him with first-degree murder.
Police have arrested a neighbor in the murder of 89-year-old Dorothy Dumyahn, whose body was found Sunday inside her burned Crest Hill home. Bruce Gimpel, 48, who lived next door to Dumyahn in his brother's 2313 Caton Farm Road house, was taken into custody Thursday morning and charged with first-degree murder, Crest Hill Police Chief Dwayne Wilkerson told the Joliet Herald News. Gimpel was a suspect early on in the case because of the inconsistent statements he made to police, Wilkerson said. No motive was released as to why Gimpel would stab the elderly woman or set her home on fire to conceal the homicide, according to the story. The Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force handled the investigation, which had the manpower to canvass the …

One way or the other, whether he's going to prison or back home, it looks like Drew Peterson won't mark a fourth year in the Will County jail.
Three years ago today, a small army of police descended on Drew Peterson as he drove away from his Bolingbrook home, and a small army of media was there to record it. Three years later, the press is back, as the attention-starved Peterson was recently in court for the first time in nearly a year and a half. Peterson may have appreciated the coverage, but unfortunately for him, the disgraced former cop was still stuck in jail waiting on his murder trial to finally start. The good news for Peterson, 58, is he likely won’t be spending another year in segregation in the Will County jail. His trial on charges he murdered his third wife, Kathleen Savio, is all but certain to begin before the year is out, ending a lengthy legal saga of appeals …

The pair, both from Plainfield, are accused of stealing items from the grounds of the closed Rizzi's Flower Garden and Aquatic Center.
Two Plainfield men who packed their pickup truck with so many stolen items that the backend almost touched the ground were arrested on charges of theft early Wednesday morning. Plainfield police spotted the truck driven by Keith J. Wells, 21, and Nicholas Eugene Davito, 18, near the Fraser Road entrance to the shuttered Rizzi’s Flower Garden & Aquatic Center, 16202 S. That the truck was dragging so low to the ground and the driver was near a closed business raised the suspicions of the patrol officers who stopped them at about 12:25 a.m., Fish said. The pair had loaded up their black Chevy S-10 with items from the grounds of landscaping business, including two portable heaters, an air-conditioning unit, …

Ashley E. Sullivan broke into the 25427 Pastoral Drive home Friday night, a burglary that was discovered after the fact by neighbors who were watching the house while the family was away, Plainfield police Sgt. Michael Eberle, a 42-year-old "drifter" was captured while hiding in the weeds near Knauer Industries on the Interstate 55 frontage road outside Shorewood, police said. Will County sheriff's deputies tracked Eberle down soon after he viciously beat to death 69-year-old Patrick Shaughnessy, a long-time Knauer employee, police said. Eberle allegedly killed Knauer to cap off a Sunday morning crime spree that included attempting to break into a house in Shorewood's Saddlebrook Estates subdivision and stealing a pickup truck from a Troy Township farm. Tiffany Book would go to Chicago several times a week to stock up on her supply to sell locally, Sgt. Mark Weber said.
The 19-year-old Plainfield woman busted for selling heroin was making trips into Chicago every couple of days to buy hundreds of dollars’ worth of the drug, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Mark Weber said Wednesday. Tiffany N. Book would buy “jabs” – 13 small heroin packets for $100 – from her dealer and then resell them at seven for $100 in order to make a profit, said Weber, who heads the Will County Cooperative Police Agency Team. A raid conducted by the team Tuesday led to Book's arrest on four counts of manufacture/delivery of heroin. It’s not clear how much profit she was making because she was also addicted to heroin and feeding her own habit as well as that of her customers, he said. While Weber would not discuss how CPAT learned…

The 12-year-old told police he was sorry for his actions and glad no one was hurt, Police Chief John Konopek said at a press conference today.
The 12-year-old boy who confessed to setting fire to five cars did so because he wanted to “see how big the fires would get” and didn’t consider that someone could be injured, Plainfield Police Chief John Konopek said today. “He did show remorse about it, and he said he didn’t want to see anyone get hurt,” Konopek said, speaking at a press conference at the Plainfield Police Department. The middle school student, who was living with a foster family in the Hazelwood Drive neighborhood where the fires were set between Dec. 25 and Jan. 8, was apprehended at about 8 a.m. Monday when Detective Dino Dabezic caught him breaking into a car. Police had been doing surveillance in the area in the hope that they could capture the suspect committing a …
