Village Seeks Buyer for Former Baci Building

Plainfield officials say they’re looking for just the right developer to turn the shuttered restaurant into a viable business.

Over the years, it’s been home to two churches and three restaurants. Now, village officials are hoping to usher in a new era for the Old St. Mary’s Church building at 24018 W. The building, which once housed St. Mary’s Catholic church, had been in foreclosure for at least a year. Previous owners Frank and John Perri Jr. had attempted to sell the property, but the need for roof repairs and mold removal in the basement had deterred prospective buyers. The Italian restaurant had operated out of the converted church for 20 years, closing in 2010. The village purchased the site in …

It IS a scar on Plainfields architecture. Unsightly does not even begin to describe it. I would start at just plain ugly and go from there. Enough taxpayer money has been sunk into this follishness. If it was such a great deal, and there was so much potential...someone would have snapped it up before now. The Village should not be in the Real Estate flipping business. The only acceptable purchase…   more ›
