A look back at the year that was in Plainfield.
For better or worse, the one thing about being an online newspaper is knowing exactly which stories hit a nerve with our readers and those that barely made a ripple. It will probably come as no surprise that many of the best-read stories on Plainfield Patch were those that had to do with crime, but there were also a few surprises. Patch fans voted for their favorite local spot in last week's Readers' Choice contest.
It's barbecue season, which means plenty of burgers and hot dogs on the grill. But what about when you don't want to do the cooking? We asked readers to help us choose the best place in Plainfield to get a hot dog, and opinions were varied. In the end, Doggie Diner came out on top. The restaurant, which opened in 2009, is known for its hot dogs, gigantic bags of fries and hot dog-themed artwork. Readers voted by leaving reviews for their favorite restaurant; voting ended at noon Friday, June 1. Here's what Doggie Diner fans had to say:

Two Plainfield restaurants were neck and neck as of Friday.

I cannot believe there isn't something being done about the Ridge Rd and RT 126 intersection...how many people need to get killed before something gets done...this should have been the #1 story. Not only the young people who were killed, what about the motorcyclist?? The INACTION of Village, State and County elected officials should have been a follow up story.
