Our Survey Said: Thanksgiving's Great Because...

Family, friend and turkey with all the fixin's -- what else would you expect? (Well, OK, we didn't expect the "I hate Thanksgiving" votes.

It warms our heart to know that just 8 percent of the people who took our what-do-you-like-about-Thanksgiving poll could find nothing of value about the holiday -- not even a day off from work/school or leftovers! While that was higher than we would have expected, the vast majority -- 45 percent -- said the best part about Turkey Day for them was getting together with family and friends. Here's how the results came in: WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THANKSGIVING: Turkey/dinner -- 12 votes (19%) Getting together with family/friends -- 28 (45%) Day off from work/school -- 4 (6%) Contemplating the year's blessings -- 3 (4%) Watching football -- 2 (3%) Playing football -- 0 (0%) Going shopping/getting ready for Black Friday -- 1 (1%) Leftovers…

Weigh In on Turkey Day: Take Our Poll

We want to know: What's the thing you like best about the holiday (or are you a secret Thanksgiving hater)?

Thanksgiving's become more of a prelude to Christmas than a day to pay homage to the founding of our country and to take stock of our blessings. Still, many say it's one of their favorite holiday for a myriad of reasons. Take the Plainfield Patch poll and tell us what you like best about Turkey Day. Voting will stay open through Sunday night, and we'll publish the results on Monday. Feel free to leave comments at the bottom of this story telling us what you like/don't like about Thanksgiving and/or wishing someone a happy holiday.
