On Tuesday, a representative for Mickey O’Neill’s confirmed via email that the pub, which hosted live music and events including a regular trivia night, had called it quits. “We have unfortunately closed our doors for good,” the email said. What's happening on the local business scene.
Two Plainfield eateries recently bit the dust. Just Judi’s, which opened in the former site of Lindy's Chili and Gertie's Ice Cream this May, has closed its doors for good. The restaurant, owned by former Lindy’s/Gertie’s employee Judi Adams, occupied the space at 15932 S. Lincoln Highway for roughly six months. A rep for the company this week confirmed that the store will close by the end of the year after the bookseller was unable to work out a new lease agreement with its landlord. Shoppers at the location, open for more than a decade, were greeted this week by large signs advertising a storewide clearance sale. Get Plainfield news in your inbox — sign up for the Plainfield Patch newsletter. Without elaborating, Barnes & Noble Vice President of Development David Deason issued a statement on the store closing. “We worked diligently with the property owner to work out an agreement that would allow us to keep the store open; unfortunately we …

Michaels, the popular arts and crafts store on Bolingbrook's west side, has announced it will close its Bolingbrook location within the next month. The Michaels store in Bolingbrook is located 119 S. Weber Rd. in the Country Aire Plaza and is scheduled to close on Oct. 22. It was not immediately known why Michaels was closing that location. “Michaels has enjoyed serving our loyal Bolingbrook customers and thanks them for their patronage and will continue to seek out opportunities for the Bolingbrook store employees throughout our other stores," said Gail Johnson, a district manager with the company. "Michaels continues to serve our customers with four stores located within 10 miles of Bolingbrook.” Michaels also has locations in …

Any updates on the employees and management? Last I heard they did not pay them, return their phone calls, or let them go into the bar to retrieve their personal belongings. What a shame   more ›
