Chase Bank Employees Help Nab Forgery, Indentity Theft Suspect

Florida woman charged with three felonies; U.S. Secret Service and other police agencies investigating possible connection to other crimes.

A Florida woman was arrested Thursday on charges of felony forgery, identity theft and possession of burglary tools after she attempted to cash a fraudulent check at Chase Bank in Plainfield. Plainfield police said they were called by employees of the bank, 15115 S. Illinois St., when Juana Noring Baez, 23, of Fort Lauderdale presented a check reported stolen in a robbery in Chicago. Police stopped the car Baez was driving, interviewed the woman and took her into custody, police said. Charges were filed in Will County Circuit Court. Plainfield police are working with the U.S. Secret Service and police agencies in Cook, Will and DuPage counties who are investigating similar crimes.
