Editor's note: The following is a press release issued by Plainfield School District: The community is invited to hear the best of District 202’s high school choral and instrumental musicians at the 2013 Solo and Ensemble Contest. The public is invited to an Honors Recital at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013, in the Plainfield South High School auditorium, 7800 W. Caton Farm Rd., Plainfield. There is no charge for admission. More than 300 District 202 high school musicians will participate in the solo and ensemble contest. Huge names in music are lending their talents to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at the “12-12-12” concert Wednesday. Every penny sold from ticket sales will go directly to Sandy victims through the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which provides material, money and aid to local organizations that are serving families and individuals in the regions hardest hit by the storm, including more than 200 Patch towns in New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island. The all-star lineup includes Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney, with other artists to be announced.
