‘High-Velocity’ Crash Sends Two Cars into Ditch at Route 59, 119th Street

No injuries reported in Friday morning crash in Plainfield.

Despite extensive damage to both vehicles in what officials called a “high impact, high velocity crash,” no one was hurt in a Friday morning crash at 119th Street and Route 59. Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief said both drivers refused treatment at the scene following what he described as a “T-bone-type crash” at the intersection around 6:50 a.m. Stratton said both vehicles sustained extensive damage. “Both vehicles left the roadway and ended up in the northeast ditch area,” he said. “They both ended up way down in the ditch.” There were no other occupants in the vehicles, Stratton said. "[They were] very lucky," he said of the drivers. "This was high velocity." Plainfield police are investigating the crash.
