Plainfield Police on the Lookout for St. Paddy's Day Drunken Drivers

Crackdown starts March 14.

Plainfield police are warning motorists to celebrate safely this St. Patrick's Day and are conducting a holiday crackdown on drunken drivers and motorists who fail to buckle up. As part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns, police remind those who plan to drink alcohol to designate a sober driver before the party begins. "Too often, St. Patrick’s Day can be a deadly and dangerous time on roadways because of drunk driving," police said in a press release. "That is why from March 14th through March 17th, Plainfield officers will be working overtime to catch and arrest anyone who is driving drunk, and cite anyone who fails to buckle up." Driver Charged with DUI After Hitting Plainfield Snow Plow

A Bolingbrook man was arrested late Friday after striking the Plainfield Public Works vehicle.

A Plainfield Public Works employee suffered minor injuries when a drunken driver crashed into a snow plow Friday night, according to village staff. Director of Public Works Allen Persons said the snow plow driver was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released, following the late-night crash on Feb. 1. Eric Munson said the plow was headed east on 135th Street near Kerr Street at around 11:30 p.m. when the westbound Cadillac crossed the center line and struck it.
