Plainfield Bars Host 'End of the World' Parties

Some local businesses are looking to cash in on the hype.

Friday is the winter solstice — and it’s also the last day of the Mayan calendar, causing some to fret about “doomsday” prophecies. Even though the more ominous theories have been shot down by the likes of NASA scientists, some Plainfield businesses are capitalizing on the end-of-the-world hype. Lincoln Highway, is advertising an “End of the World Party” on Friday, with drink specials and a Bulls vs. Knicks viewing party starting at 6:30 p.m. (although it’s anybody’s guess why partygoers would care about the outcome of the game if they truly believe the end is nigh). All new Resturant/Bar opennings normally pack the parking lot. I noticed Wal-Mart lot was packed as well as McDonalds. Using your theory then I am betting that patrons DO agree with the cheap merchandise theory. If I want Ambiance the last place I want to go to is a Dog Pound,or Dairy Farm,or a Brewery.
