Park District Seeking Best Halloween Houses

Fifth-annual Halloween house decorating contest will award prizes for best scary and family-friendly decorations.

If you're creative and competitive, it's time to get in touch with your inner ghoul and enter the 5th annual Plainfield Park District "Spook-tacular" Haunted Houses contest. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: most family-friendly house and scariest house. The contest is open to all park district residents and there is a $10 entry fee. Entry deadline is Oct. 21, with judging conducted on the nights of Oct. 26 and 27. Because the judges will be viewing the decorations from the sidewalk, make sure your display is visible from that vantage point. Winners will be notified on Oct. 28. Limestone Brewing Company Wins Big in 'Best of Burbs'

Customers voted new Plainfield brewpub tops in suburban brews, food, dancing and drinks.

For a new kid on the block, Plainfield’s Limestone Brewing Company is making its share of nightlife news. SuburbaNites Dining and Entertainment Magazine, at Monday night’s “Best of the Burbs” party in Aurora, handed Limestone its top awards for Best Brewpub, Best Dance Club, Best Chef, and Best Mixed Drink, the latter for its Limestone Lemonade.
