A Plainfield man was among 20 arrested Tuesday on federal drug trafficking charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in Chicago. Evaristo Martinez-Zamaniego, 28, of Plainfield, who also lists an address in Cicero, was among the defendants arrested in the Chicago area and Laredo, Texas, for their roles in distributing cocaine and using a telephone to facillitate narcotics trafficking, the U.S. Attorney's office release said. A joint investigation conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI in 2010 led to the charges. During the course of the probe, officers seized more than $12.4 million in cash and 250 kilograms of cocaine, the release said. Police also recovered $480,000 cash and about 250 kilograms of heroin …

An FBI report released this week said the Shorewood police disclosed three incidents of "forcible rape" in the village in 2010.
The annual FBI Uniform Crime Report listed three incidents of "forcible rape" committed in Shorewood in 2010. Based on the population of 16,666 used in the FBI report, that breaks down to one forcible rape per 5,555.3 residents. This rate is nearly double that of neighboring Plainfield, a town with nearly two and a half times as many residents as Shorewood. Minooka, a town of about 500 fewer people than Shorewood, had no incidents of forcible rape. Individual departments self-reported their crime statistics, said FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates, and not every department in the state participated the survey. Shorewood resident Christopher Kice was arrested Monday in connection with stockpiling child pornography, according to federal agents.
Federal agents took down a Shorewood man who they say amassed an extensive collection of child pornography. Christopher Kice, 41, of 1110 Callaway Drive West, was carted down to the county jail Monday and then transported to federal custody in Chicago. FBI agents armed with a warrant for Kice's arrest collared the information technology worker Monday. According to a federal affidavit, Kice had numerous illicit computer files bearing such names as "Church Girls Gone Wild," "underage illegal preteen daughter," "pedofil," "lolitaguy," and others too filthy to print. The feds and Shorewood cops raided Kice's home on St. Patrick's Day, the affidavit said. Kice admitted to using his laptop computer to download pornography, according to the …
