Smoke detectors alerted residents to a fire in their Harbour Lane townhome Wednesday night, helping them escape unscathed, according to fire officials. Investigators believe the fire may have started in the area of the fireplace in the basement of the two-story townhome in the 22000 block of Harbour Lane in the Lakelands subdivision, Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said. Ever seen a Christmas tree go up in flames and take an entire room with it in less than a minute? It's a thing to behold – as the video accompanying this story shows – and not in a good way.
