A Plainfield homebrew supply store and “nanobrewery” is settled in its new location and planning an event to welcome customers to its new home. Chicago Brew Werks will host a grand opening party from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at its new facility at 14903 S. Center St. The business recently moved from a storefront on Rhea Drive to a 2,500-square-foot location on Center Street, where it offers everything homebrew enthusiasts need to create their own beers. Twist Yoga Lounge is set to open March 1 on Route 59.
Three friends plan to bring more balance to Plainfield. Jen Cisneros, Theresa Wilson and Amy Brinkman will open Twist Yoga Lounge on March 1. Located at 12337 S. Route 59 in the shopping center anchored by Nevin's Brewing Company, the studio will offer heated yoga seven days a week, with classes for all levels. “It’s for every age, every shape, every body size,” Wilson said. After opening on Sept. 4, a new Plainfield daycare will celebrate with a grand opening event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Kiddie Academy, 13703 S. Route 59, offers education-based childcare, according to husband-and-wife owners Saj and Sunny Rizvi. “We have a full curriculum,” offering programs for children ages six weeks through 12 years old, Sunny said. “The demand now is for school-based care, not a daycare,” she added, saying Kiddie Academy’s “Life Essentials” curriculum prepares children for elementary school. “The curriculum really gives them a solid foundation for what they’re going to encounter in elementary school,” Sunny said. The remodeling is done, and the newly hired staff members at Durbin’s will welcome their first diners on Monday. Located in the former Pom Poms bar and grill at 16031 S. Lincoln Highway, the family owned eatery is the seventh Durbin’s restaurant in the Chicago suburbs. Owner Tom McAuliffe described Monday as a soft opening for the restaurant, known for its award-winning pizza. “We’re planning a grand opening for a week or two after that, a big blowout,” he said.
