Bond Set for Men Accused of Drunken Gunplay in Plainfield Township

Hank Robinson and Carmen Nero were in Will County court Monday.

Two men were still in jail Monday night after police said they went on a drunken shooting spree in a Plainfield Township backyard. Hank Robinson, 25, of the 23000 block of Bentley Drive in unincorporated Plainfield Township and Carmen Nero III, 33, of Joliet, were in court Monday afternoon, each facing charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and use of a firearm without a FOID card. Robinson, who was paroled in April after serving time for a string of 2010 salon burglaries, is also charged with unlawful use of a firearm by a felon. Bond for Robinson was set at $75,000, meaning he would have to post $7,500 to be released from the Will County jail. Nero’s bond was set at $50,000, or $5,000 bail. SWAT Team Responds to Gunshots in Plainfield Township

“Alcohol played a role” in early morning incident, police said.

Two men were arrested early Sunday after making an alcohol-fueled decision to fire off some rounds with a semi-automatic pistol in a Plainfield Township backyard, police said. Hank M. Robinson, 25, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and not having a firearm owner’s identification (FOID) card following the incident at his home at 23542 W. Bentley Dr., located near Bronk and Caton Farm roads. Sign up for the Plainfield Patch newsletter. A second man, Carmen R. Nero III, 33, of the 2800 block of Warren Dorris Drive in Joliet, was also arrested on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and lacking a FOID card, according to Will County Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas.
