PEHS's Adkins Named B-ball Coach of Year

The coach's team went 27-2 in the regular season and set records for the school and for the Southwest Prairie Conference.

Plainfield East High School basketball coach Branden Adkins has been named Class 3A/4A coach of the year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. Adkins led his team to a 27-2 regular season finish as well as first-place conference and regional championships, both firsts for the four-year-old school. The team was the first in Southwest Prairie Conference history to go undefeated in a season, winning their first 14 games and losing only one regular season game. Team center Brian Bennett was a candidate for Mr. Basketball in Illinois.  Adkins will be honored at the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association's 40th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on April 28 at Illinois State University in Normal.
