Plainfield Teen to Perform at Bolingbrook 4th of July Celebration

Keegan Eich, 14, will take the stage with headliner Maggie Speaks on Wednesday night.

At just 14 years old, Keegan Eich has big dreams. “He wants to be the next Justin Bieber,” dad Brian said. “He wants to be performing in front of sell-out crowds.” He’ll get a taste of fame on Wednesday when he performs at Bolingbrook’s Fourth of July celebration with headliner Maggie Speaks. The band is set to take the stage at 7:45 p.m. at Bolingbrook Golf Club, 2001 Rodeo Dr., Bolingbrook. Brian, owner of the Eich’s Sports complex in Plainfield, said he was approached by Maggie Speaks lead singer Dave Calzaretta, whose daughter plays volleyball at Eich’s. After seeing clips of the Plainfield teen on YouTube, Calzaretta invited him to peform with the band last week at Rotary GroveFest in Downers Grove. But it wasn’t Keegan’s first turn …

Teen Performer Wrote Song for Soldiers' Kids

Keegan Eich, 13, will be performing at the Wounded Warrior 5K Run on Memorial Day weekend.

When the Wounded Warrior 5K Run is held in Plainfield's Settlers' Park on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, 13-year-old Keegan Eich of Plainfield will be performing. A reader who's involved in the race sent us a link to a YouTube video of Keegan performing a song, "Alleluia," which he wrote when he was 12. In the video, Keegan says the piece is dedicated "to all of the children out there (whose) mom or dad are fighting for their country." The race starts at 8 a.m. and is being conducted by Operation Welcome You Home. The Wounded Warrior Project raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for support the needs of injured service members, help injured service members assist each other and provide programs and services to meet the needs…
