Krista Zarbock, an employee of the Furry Babies, confirmed the 2-month-old chihuahua was back; Joliet police could not be reached for comment.
The tiny puppy snatched from a pet store in the Louis Joliet Mall Friday night has been returned safely, a store employee said Monday night. Krista Zarbock, who works for the Furry Babies store, was the first to sound the alarm about the theft of the 2-month-old blue chihuahua, contacting media outlets on Saturday and posting a note and photos on the Joliet Patch Facebook page. A subsequent story posted on Joliet Patch generated dozens of leads, Joliet Police Chief Mike Trafton said Monday. Joliet police were notified of the theft of the 1.5-pound female dog from the Furry Babies store, employee says.
A 1.5-pound female Chihuahua was stolen from the Furry Babies store in the Louis Joliet Mall. Store surveillance video captured an image of the man taking the dog at about 8 p.m. Friday night. Here is what an employee posted on the Joliet Patch Facebook page: I work for furry babies in the Louis joliet mall. We have a man on camera stealing one of our babies. She is a 2 month old blue chihuahua. He weighs about 1.5 lbs. this was around 8 pm last night. It has been reported to joliet police. Father Christmas will be setting up outside the Macy's store in Louis Joliet Mall starting Nov. 10, and he even has his own app this year.
Thanksgiving? Black Friday? Heck, no, Santa's not waiting. He's got people to see, lists to check, candy canes to hand out. And he'll be setting up shop at the Louis Joliet Mall in Joliet at 10 a.m. Sunday, where he'll remain until all gift wishes have been whispered in his ear until Christmas Eve. Visitors of all ages can visit in the court area just outside Macy's. He'll be holding court from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays (with breaks from 1 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m.) and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays (with a break from 2 to 3 p.m.).
