Letter: District 202's Needy Family Drive Deemed a Huge Success

Organizers say thank you to all those who donated and help raise money for 32 families at Christmas.

Dear Editor; As always, we are continually amazed and gratified at your generosity and compassion for the unfortunate families of Plainfield School District 202. Our 2012 Needy Family Drive was able to assist 32 District 202 families with each family receiving a multitude of gifts for every family member and plentiful food baskets. In fact, you went above and beyond in supplying their needs and wishes. We can honestly report that each family was overwhelmed with emotional gratitude, which left some speechless but just as many thanking us profusely over and over again. This miracle could never have happened without each and every one of you! Thank you so much for bringing the spirit, the gladness and the warmth of Christmas to them. Once …

My family was one of the 32, and I can't begin to describe how we felt when I picked up the gifts. Overwhelmed is a TREMENDOUS understatement. Plainfield Needy Family Drive Making Holidays Bright for the 20th Year

The annual donation drive enters its second decade — here's how you can help local families in need during the season of giving.

Editor's note: The following is a press release issued by District 202: The Plainfield High School-Central Campus Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is collecting monetary donations for its 20th annual Christmas drive for needy District 202-area families. The PHSCC PTSO will use the money received to provide Christmas dinner and buy individual gifts for needy District 202 families. Last year the PTSO helped more than 30 families in the District 202 community. “No matter what else is happening, there are always needy families in our community,” said Linda Hanley, the coordinator of the Christmas drive. “We do our best to help everyone that we can.”  The PTSO helps as many families as are identified, and has never turned away anyone …
