New Restaurant Offers Fresh Mexican, Margaritas on Route 59

Plainfield's Delicia Mexican Grill is family run and offers made-to-order Mexican favorites and signature dishes.

A new Mexican eatery is dishing out something different, according to general manager David Barriball. Diners at the new Delicia Mexican Grill, 12337 S. Route 59, can expect traditional fare like tacos, burritos and fajitas — but that’s not all. “It’s sort of a combination of classic Mexican and neo-Latin cuisine,” said Barriball, who has been in the restaurant business for more than 25 years. The restaurant offers up daily specials and signature fare including bacon-wrapped tequila shrimp, lata de cerveza (beer can) chicken, green chile cheeseburgers and fresh fish dishes, not to mention homemade soups and appetizers. Having read what I have posted previously, sad to say, I feel exactly the opposite now. The second to last time I went there, they had already changed staff, who were very friendly and professional, in that they made sure that whatever I ordered was satisfying to me. New Year's Eve Closure for Cozy Corner, Soon to be the Red Rooster

An e-mail sent to Cozy Corner patrons says the restaurant will serve its last customer today; it will reopen as a new restaurant sometime in January.

It will literally be out with the old and in with the new this New Year's Eve when The Cozy Corner restaurant closes its doors forever today and reopens sometime in January as the Red Rooster restaurant. Patrons were notified by e-mail Friday that the family-run restaurant, located at 12337 S. Route 59 since September 2003, would be serving its last customers from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The new owners were not identified, nor was there any information on the Red Rooster other than it would offer a "new and inviting concept in dining." It's not know whether the new restaurant has any connection to the Red Rooster restaurant in Glenview or the Red Rooster Wine Bar & Cafe on Halsted Street in Chicago. The e-mail did stress the new …
