The Plainfield Fire Protection District would like to thank everyone for their generous toy donations for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation. We collected several hundred toys that were taken to the Marines for distribution to area needy families this holiday season.  Thank you for your continued support of this program.   Mary Ludemann, Fire Inspector

Plainfield Fire Dept. is Toys for Tots Drop-Off

Donate new, unwrapped toys at any of the fire district's firehouses or administration center. Deadline is Dec. 13.

Editor's note - The following is a press release issued by the Plainfield Fire Protection District:  The Plainfield Fire Protection District will be accepting new toy donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.  Toys may be dropped off at any of our four fire stations: Fire Station One at 14415 S. Coil Plus Drive, Fire Station Two at 23806 W. 135th St., Fire Station Three at 25001 W. 119th St., and Fire Station Four at 15930 S. Frederick St.  Toys may also be dropped off at our District Administration and Training Facility at 23748 W. 135th Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wheatland Township Participating in Toys for Tots

Residents can help by donating gifts.

Wheatland Township, in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps will be both a drop-off and distributing site for this year’s Toys for Tots program. Toys and gifts are for children ages newborn to 12 years old. Certain eligibility requirements will need to be met by parent/guardian in order to qualify for the program. Eligibility forms must be returned by Nov. 21.  Toys for Tots will provide one toy for each child. The children’s needs are far more than just toys. Some examples are hats, gloves, scarves, pajamas, socks, sheet sets, and underclothing. Cash and gift cards will also be accepted. Looking to Give Back this Holiday Season? Here Are Some Options

Christmas is about giving, and what better way to help the community than to donate food, toys or money to help someone have a nice holiday.

Looking to spread a little holiday cheer beyond your own family and friends? Local charities offer a few ways to pitch in, from toy collections to lunch with Santa and free photos with Marines. Saturday: 4 Paws For Ability Planning to send holiday cards featuring the family and Fido? Bring your pets to a holiday photo session, which will also help the family of Nate Kothera, a 6-year-old with Down syndrome and leukemia, raise $13,000 to get a service dog. All pets are welcome from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lucky Dog Academy, 23907 W. Industrial Drive North. The $25 fee includes a CD with jpeg images.
