Randy and Nicole Mota were arrested Feb. 12 after a police, DEA raid of their Joliet home. A week earlier, Randy Mota’s brother was arrested near an alleged Plainfield grow house.
A tip from a Plainfield police officer led to a drug raid that netted 71 cannabis plants, 18 pounds of loose marijuana, four handguns and a rifle, police said Wednesday. Husband and wife Randy, 28, and Nicole Mota, 26, were arrested following a search of their home at 6512 Roth Drive in Joliet. Plainfield police, DEA bust another alleged grow operation — this time in Joliet.
For the third time in as many weeks, police and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents busted an alleged local marijuana-dealing operation, this time in Joliet. Plainfield police arrested Randy Mota, 28, and Nicole Mota, 26, following a Tuesday raid at their 6512 Roth Drive home, and recovered 71 cannabis plants and 18 pounds of loose cannabis, Plainfield Sgt. Mike Fisher said. The drugs have a street value of more than $250,000, he said. Fisher said a Plainfield officer who works with the Chicago branch of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency helped uncover the operation. A Chicago man picked the wrong place at the wrong time for an apparent romantic tryst, according to police. Erik F. Mota, 30, of the 5600 block of South Campbell Ave., Chicago, was arrested Sunday night just down the street from a massive marijuana grow house busted by Plainfield police and DEA agents last week, and stands accused of manufacture/delivery of 30-500 grams of cannabis and unlawful possession of a handgun. Police said Mota was in Plainfield to meet with a woman who lives in the neighborhood of the alleged grow house on Tipperary Lane, but his vehicle — a Chevy Tahoe with dark tinted windows — drew the attention of wary neighbors, who reported the vehicle as suspicious.
