Plainfield Business Briefs: Local Hot Dog Restaurants Close

What's happening on the local business scene.

Two Plainfield eateries recently bit the dust. Just Judi’s, which opened in the former site of Lindy's Chili and Gertie's Ice Cream this May, has closed its doors for good. The restaurant, owned by former Lindy’s/Gertie’s employee Judi Adams, occupied the space at 15932 S. Lincoln Highway for roughly six months. Just Judi’s specialized in burgers, hot dogs, Philly steaks and fries. Another Plainfield hot dog joint, Binnie’s Dog House, also recently closed. Located at 15412S. Route 59 near Peter Rubi and the new Wild West BBQ, opened in March 2012. Hot dog lovers …

RoSal’s Bids Bittersweet Farewell to Plainfield

Owners Joe and Cyndi Fulco are shutting down the location to focus on other businesses, volunteer work.

If you’ve got a craving for Chicago-style Italian favorites, you’d better hurry. RoSal’s, the family owned restaurant that got its start on Taylor Street in Chicago, will close the doors of its Plainfield location for the last time at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Cyndi Fulco, who owns the eatery with husband Joe, said the decision came as she became more active in volunteering and Joe opened up a third business. After four-and-a-half years in Plainfield, Cyndi said, “It was time.” But the goodbye isn’t the end for the restaurant, located at 13717 Route 30 in Plainfield. The location is scheduled to reopen next month under the leadership of Rick DiPego, owner of Fat Ricky’s. “Ricky is our cousin,” Cyndi explained. The new Fat Ricky’s location will be …

So happy that Cyndi and Joe can pursue their dreams... It's not a casualty or a matter of who is the strongest to survive.... this was a choice the Fulco's made to begin the next chapter of their lives. We will miss stopping in to see them at RoSal's Plainfield, but we will see them often around town and at their Taylor Street location, Good luck, Cyndi and Joe! And, welcome to the neighborhood, …   more ›
