UPDATED: 13 Departments Respond to Minooka Fire
The fire departments were still on scene on Bell Road more than three hours after the first call.
A fire on Bell Road in Minooka required 13 departments and resulted in a building collapse, but no injuries. "It came in initially as possibly a bonfire out of control," Minooka Fire Protection District Chief Al Yancy said at the scene of the fire. "Very quickly it was reported as a building on fire." The building served as a machine shed, Yancy said. When fire departments initially arrived, their first priority was to keep a large propane tank that was located inside the shed from exploding. "Crews applied water and extinguished the fire around the tank first and then began extinguishing the remaining fire," Yancy said in a written release. Yancy said that while 13 departments responded, the bulk of those responses were needed for water. …
